Maura Houk joined the GW staff in February 2026 as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, where she currently oversees sports performance for Women’s Basketball and Women's Gymnastics programs.
Maura arrived at GW following a successful tenure at Mount St. Mary’s University. During her time with the Mountaineers, she led strength and conditioning efforts for Women’s Basketball and assisted with the Men’s Basketball program—headlined by the team's first-ever MAAC Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2025. Her versatile experience at the Mount also included training Women’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse, Men’s Water Polo, and Golf.
From 2023–24, Maura served at George Mason University, where she was mentored by Dr. Faith Brown. Through Dr. Brown’s research and guidance, she gained specialized expertise in the practical application of load monitoring within Women’s Basketball performance.
A Philadelphia native, Houk began her career with internships and graduate assistantships at Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania from 2021–2023. She is a graduate of West Chester University, where she earned a double major in Exercise Science and Business Management.
Maura is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
