Rodrigo Espinel enters his second season with the GW baseball program in 2025.
Espinel began his time at GW after serving as a graduate assistant at Rutgers. While with the Scarlet Knights, Espinel oversaw all undergraduate students who worked with the baseball program, assisted with all baseball operations duties, helped create all Synergy pitching reports and spearheaded the creation of offensive and defensive flip cards. Moreover, Espinel also filmed and edited all scrimmages and regular season games, assisted with player development drills during practices, coordinated all team travel and meals as well as developed team itineraries.
Â
Originally a student manager for Rutgers, Espinel spent four seasons with the team before moving into the graduate assistant role. As a student manager, Espinel managed all team equipment and played a key role in the creation of player development videos. After two seasons in the student manager role, Espinel was eventually elevated to head manager prior to the 2019 season.
Â
During his time with Rutgers, Espinel also worked as the Tournament Director and Assistant to the General Manager for Diamond Nation. With Diamond Nation, Espinel’s duties included designing tournament grids, publishing all tournament information on the company’s official website, providing hands-on support for all guests and teams competing at Diamond Nation events and ensuring each facility is properly organized and equipped.
Â
In the coaching ranks, Espinel served as an assistant coach for Passaic Recreation for two years. In this role, Espinel specialized in working with infielders and outfielders on the defensive side of the ball, while also working in player performance to ensure athletes were in peak physical shape.
Â
Espinel graduated from Rutgers with a degree in Sport Management in 2022. Following the completion of his bachelor’s degree, Espinel immediately began work towards a master’s degree in Global Sports Business, which he earned in 2023.
