Bio
Tyler McCarthy '13 is in his second season as a volunteer assistant coach with the George Washington baseball team.
McCarthy appeared in 180 games across four seasons with the Colonials. He batted .279 as a senior and set career highs in runs, hits, RBIs, total bases and stolen bases while helping lead the Colonials to their first Atlantic 10 Championship appearance and first postseason victory since 2006. His 15-game hitting streak as a senior stands tied for the second-longest streak in program history.
The Jupiter, Florida, native has spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Catholic University. The Cardinals, coached by GW alum Ross Natoli '81, won the 2015 Landmark Conference championship and competed in the NCAA Division III Baseball Mid-Atlantic Regional. CUA turned in consecutive 20-win seasons during McCarthy's tenure.
"Tyler will have infield responsibilities as the first base and catching coach," added Coach Ritchie. "I am excited for him and we are lucky to have him on board to help this program take the next step forward."
