Lavey Named to Buster Posey Award Midseason Watchlist

Junior Robbie Lavey has been named to the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award Midseason Watchlist. One of 50 catchers across the nation to be selected, Lavey is enjoying another stellar year with the Buff & Blue.
Lavey currently leads the program with a .347 batting average this season with a team-best 34 hits. Included are seven doubles and three home runs, all while driving in 19 RBI. He's scored 20 runs for the Revolutionaries and holds a slugging percentage of .510. Behind the dish, Lavey has thrown out nine runners on base and holds a fielding percentage of .989 thus far. He's also tallied 17 assists and 161 putouts in 2026.
Established in 2000, the award was initially named the Johnny Bench Award, before it was renamed in 2019. The award aims to honor the top Division I catcher annually and is presented by the Wichita Sports Commission. Former winners include current big leaguers Adley Rutschman and Kyle Teel, along with MLB greats Kurt Suzuki and its namesake, Buster Posey.
