Rowing Aims to Defend George's Cup Sunday

GW rowing begins its spring campaign on Sunday as it battles George Mason and Georgetown in the annual George's Cup on the Occoquan. Racing will begin at 9 a.m.
A LOOK AT THE FALL
Sunday marks the Revolutionaries first official competition since the Princeton Chase in early November. Facing some of the best crews on the East Coast, GW's V8 placed 36th in the event, outpacing A-10 foes La Salle and Fordham. The 2V8 came in 44th followed by the 3V8 in 49th.
GEORGE'S CUP HISTORY
Sunday marks the annual matchup between Georgetown, George Mason and GW. The Buff & Blue retained both the George's Cup and Class of 1998 Cup by virtue of its triumph in the V8 last year. GW has now won the George's Cup in nine of the 14 all-time matchups.
The Class of 1998 Cup is contested every year between the GW and Georgetown V8 boats. GW has broken a tie in the series with three-straight wins over the last three seasons, holding a 12-9 edge in the all-time matchup.
