Men's Basketball Faces Fordham in A-10 Second Round Thursday

Ninth-seeded George Washington men's basketball opens Atlantic 10 Tournament play on Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. vs. No. 8 seed Fordham. The game will be broadcast nationally on USA Network.

George Washington enters the A-10 Tournament following a 17-14 (8-10) regular season. GW secured a Quad 1 win over eventual American champion, South Florida, on Nov. 8 on a neutral floor, 99-95, and also picked up a marquee win over rival George Mason, 72-53, on Feb. 13.
The Buff & Blue are fourth in the A-10 in both KenPom (83) and NET ranking (90) in search of back-to-back postseason appearances for the first time since four-straight from 2013-14 to 2016-17. GW has already set the school record for 3-pointers in a season (309), has scored the second-most points at GW all-time (2,561) and has the highest average PPG (82.6) since 1969-70 (83.0).

Fordham won the only matchup between the two teams this year, 79-65, at GW on Jan. 31 in the first of six games for the Revolutionaries without Rafael Castro. Christian Jones led the Buff & Blue that day with 13 points and six assists, but GW shot just 39.3% and was outrebounded, 46-28.
The Buff & Blue are 4-1 against the Rams in the A-10 Tournament, including an 88-81 win in the second round last year. Thursday marks the fifth postseason meeting between the two programs since 2018, having also met in 2020, 2021, and 2025.
A LOOK AT THE RAMS
Fordham exceeded expectations in year one under Head Coach Mike Magpayo, finishing with an identical record to GW at 17-14 overall and 8-10 in the A-10.
The Rams have the league's leading scorer in Dae Dae Reaves at 17.7 ppg. Reaves had 19 points, six assists and five rebounds in the regular season meeting. Rikus Schulte is the reigning A-10 Co-Player of the Week after averaging 16.0 ppg and 12.0 rpg in two games last week. He averaged 10.9 ppg and 9.1 rpg throughout the season.
Fordham's hallmark has been its defense, leading the A-10 and ranking 13th nationally allowing just 65.5 ppg. The Rams are also elite on the offensive glass, ranking 40th nationally with 12.8 per game, tops in the A-10.
