WEIRTON, W. Va. - The EAGL announced on Wednesday that GW junior Deana Sheremeta was selected as the league's Specialist of the Week, while first-year Lola Montevago earned the league's Rookie of the Week selection, following GW's home victory at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational.
Sheremeta was chosen for Specialist of the Week after earning first place on the balance beam with a 9.875 score. The victory on beam came with a new personal-best for Sheremeta, whose previous career best was a 9.825 set in her rookie season in 2023. This is the first EAGL weekly honor for Sheremeta this season.
Montevago competed in three of GW's four rotations on her way to being named Rookie of the Week. Montevago's top performance on Sunday came on uneven bars, where she won the event with a career-best 9.900. The first-year also competed well on both the beam (9.725) and on vault (9.700) to help GW to victory. This is Montevago's first-ever EAGL weekly honor.
The Revolutionaries are back on the road for two meets this weekend. On Friday, GW will head up to Baltimore for the Towson Invite, where the Revolutionaries will be tested by conference foes Towson and UNH, as well as West Chester. On Sunday, GW will be in Philadelphia for an EAGL meet at Temple, the only meet of all five EAGL teams ahead of the EAGL Championships in March.
