WASHINGTON - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced on Tuesday that GW standouts Connor Rodgers, Moriah Freitas and Shae Stratton have been selected for its weekly honors. Both Rodgers and Freitas were chosen as A-10 Performers of the Week, while Stratton earned A-10 Rookie of the Week honors following GW's dual-meet victory vs. UMBC.
Rodgers was excellent on both days, earning big points for GW with victories in all four of his events: the 100 IM (50.02), 200 IM (1:49.47), 400 IM (3:53.00) and the 200 fly (1:47.09). Adding to Rogers' resume last week, his times in the 200 fly and 200 IM on Saturday each set new UMBC pool records. This is the third A-10 Performer of the Week selection of the season for Rodgers.
Freitas also had an outstanding weekend in which she nearly won every individual event that she swam. The Orlando native topped the charts in the 100 fly (54.37) and in the 200 fly (2:00.50), while finishing second in the 50 fly (25.69), just .21 seconds behind the leader. Freitas also swam in two first-place finishing relays, the 200-yard free relay (1:33.33) and the 200-yard medley relay (1:41.74). This is the first A-10 Performer of the Week for Freitas of the 2024-25 season.
Stratton shined over the weekend with one victory and two second-place finishes. The first-year picked up a win in the 200-yard backstroke (1:46.16), an event in which he holds the fifth-fastest time in the conference this season. Stratton's pair of runner-up races came in the 100-yard backstroke (49.75) and the 100-yard IM (52.19), both races where he finished second to teammates. This is Stratton's third A-10 Rookie of the Week this season.
Next for GW is the Cavalier Invitational, where a select group of Revolutionaries will compete Feb. 7-8 in Charlottesville, Va., serving as a final tune-up for the Atlantic 10 Championships, which run Feb. 19-22. Â
