
Swimming & Diving Bested by Virginia Tech in Opening Meet

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. - The George Washington University men's and women's swimming & diving teams were taken down by Virginia Tech in the season-opening meet. GW's men fell by a final of 184-112, while the Buff & Blue's women's team was defeated 191-107.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Connor Rodgers nabbed first place in the 200-yard fly (1:50.68), winning the race by almost a half-second. Rodgers later finished in second place in the 200-yard IM (1:52.48).

Daniel Choi cruised to a victory in the 1,000-yard free (9:35.75) by more than 12 seconds. Then in the 500-yard free, Choi tapped in for a second-place finish (4:43.97).

In his first meet with the Buf & Blue, first-year Shae Stratton took second place in the 100-yard backstroke (51.01). Later in the meet in the 200-yard backstroke, Stratton had another second-place finish (1:50.84), missing out on first by just 0.11 seconds.

The men's 400-yard free relay tapped in second (3:04.52), swam by Elliott Irwin, AJ Wood, Stratton and Ganesh Sivaramakrishnan.

Gage Boushee finished the 200-yard IM in third place (1:53.26).

The men's 200-yard medley relay, made up of Sivaramakrishnan, Preston Lin, Daniel Nagy and Irwin, finished in third (1:31.42).
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Olivia Paquette (304.28) and Dara Reyblat (278.78) took first and second in the 3-meter dive, respectively. Paquette also finished the 1-meter dive in second place (267.00).

Moriah Freitas claimed victory in the 200-yard fly (2:05.55) by nearly two seconds. Freitas later finished the 200-yard fly in third place (56.67).

Colleen MacWilliams won the 200-yard IM in 2:06.75. Molly Smyers finished the event in third place (2:07.77).

Ava Topolewski nearly won the 1,000-yard free, finishing in second place (10:16.48) by less than one second.

The women's 200-yard medley relay, composed of Marlee Rickert, Natalie Sens, Freitas and Jules Fifer, finished in third place (1:45.23).

The women's 400-yard free relay closed the meet with a third-place finish (3:33.90). Fifer, Rickert, Chloe Hernandez, and Topolewski swam for GW.
UP NEXT
The Revolutionaries will head to a quad meet at the Hampton Aquaplex next weekend in Hampton, Va. GW will compete in part of a four-team field which also includes UNCW, Delaware and William & Mary.
