Revolutionaries look to win second-straight road match
WASHINGTON - The George Washington University men's soccer team (2-4-0, 0-0-0 A-10) is heading to New Rochelle, N.Y. for a Tuesday afternoon match vs. the Iona Gaels (1-3-2, 0-0-0 MAAC). Kickoff at Mazzella Field is set for 1 p.m. and the match will air live on ESPN+.
FIRST ROAD WIN
The Revolutionaries picked up their first road win this season on Tuesday when they defeated Navy, 1-0, in Annapolis, Md. First-year forward Louis Crofts scored in the 21st minute, which was the only goal of the match, while sophomore goalkeeper Tom Macauley picked up the win in his first career shutout, making two saves.
ABOUT IONA
Iona has started the season at 1-3-2 with their lone win coming over Loyola Maryland (2-0), but the Gaels have lost each of their last three matches. Junior midfielder Sergio Gonzalez Fernandez leads Iona with four goals this season. GW is 2-0 against the Gaels all-time which included a 1-0 GW win on The Vern last season.
LOOKING AHEAD
GW returns home this weekend to open A-10 play against Duquesne. Kickoff at the GW Soccer Field is set for 1:00 p.m. and the match will air live on ESPN+.
