Men’s Soccer Snaps Skid, Takes Down Navy, 1-0

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The George Washington University men's soccer team (2-4-0, 0-0-0 A-10) defeated Navy (1-3-2, 0-0-0 Patriot) in Annapolis, Md., on Tuesday night, 1-0. The Revolutionaries got an early goal from first-year forward Louis Crofts and never surrendered their lead, snapping a three-game losing streak and moving to 2-4-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
21ST MINUTE: Forward Alex Nicholson sent a pass across the box to Will Turner, but Turner - who was covered by a Navy defender - allowed the pass to keep rolling to the open feet of Crofts, who fired home a one-timed shot for his second goal of the year. Nicholson picked up an assist on the play.

With the victory, GW tied the all-time series against Navy at 13-13-5.

GW held Navy to just one shot in the first half. In total, shots were tied 8-8 with GW holding a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Tom Macauley picked up his first win of the season and his career, making two saves in the shutout performance.

With his second goal of the year, Crofts took the team lead in goals (2) and points (4).

GW picked up its first win away from home this year, moving to 1-2-0 on the road.

Navy's Rowan Browne was issued the only card of the match, a yellow card in the 87th minute.

The Revolutionaries have a week-long break before their next match, which comes on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Iona. Kickoff in New Rochelle, N.Y., is set for 1 p.m.
