WASHINGTON – Head coach Gregg Ritchie and the GW baseball program announced the addition of Adam Dofflemyer to the coaching staff ahead of the 2024-25 academic year. Dofflemyer will serve as the Director of Pitching/Player Development on Ritchie's staff after spending the 2024 season as the Pitching Coach at the University of Mary Washington.
"We are excited and proud to announce the addition of Adam Dofflemyer to our coaching staff," Ritchie said. "Adam is a person of high character, standards and baseball coaching abilities. He's a special young talent that brings a full tool belt of skills that will impact our student-athletes in their development and achievement, both on and off the field. Adam brings a strong work ethic, organizational abilities, baseball IQ and leadership skills to the Buff & Blue. I'm excited to add to our staff such an "all in" person that is about winning. He will help drive our GW Revs to Raise High towards championships!"
While at UMW, Dofflemyer led the Eagles' pitching staff to several statistical improvements throughout the 2024 campaign when compared to the 2023 season. Those include a decrease in hits per nine innings from 10.19 to 9.33, a decrease in team ERA from 5.40 to 4.27, four total shutouts during the 2024 campaign and a staff ERA which ranked within the top 40 nationally at the D-III level. Dofflemyer also developed four All-Conference pitchers along with an All-Region selection during his short stint.
"I'm excited for the players and the future of the GW baseball program," said Michael Reiskind, Associate Strength and Condition Coach within the Milwaukee Brewers organization. "Adam will work tirelessly to maximize the development of each individual he coaches. He's a great coach, friend and even better person!"
During the summer of 2024, Dofflemyer served as the pitching coach for the 2024 Valley Baseball League Champion Charlottesville Tom Sox. Dofflemyer helped lead the pitching staff, which included current GW left-hander Ayden Alexander, to a league-best 3.87 team ERA.
"Coach Ritchie and GW have made a great hire," said Randy Tomlin, Head Coach of the Tom Sox. "Quite frankly, they've found a hidden gem in Adam Dofflemyer. His work ethic, knowledge of the game, passion for learning, organization, communication and people skills will be a very valuable benefit to the program. Congratulations Adam, it was a pleasure coaching with you this summer."
A native of Harrisonburg, Va., Dofflemyer pitched four seasons at the University of Lynchburg, playing for a program which has been revitalized over the past seven years. Over his career, Dofflemyer had a 4.28 ERA in 61 innings, striking out 56 batters. Between his playing career and coaching stint at Mary Washington, Dofflemyer spent the 2023 season as an assistant with his alma mater Spotswood High School and served as head coach of the 2026 Valley Elite showcase team.
