The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released its Spring 2024 Individual Scholar All-America Teams, naming redshirt senior Djurdje Matic (Business Administration) and sophomore Ava Topolewski (Marketing) to the First Team and another 12 Revolutionaries to the Second Team. Matic and Topolewski have each earned CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team recognition for the first time in their careers, and they become the first GW duo ever to be named to the First Team in the same year.
Featured from GW on the Second Team are Ben Bradley (Finance), Justin Dostal (Computer Science), Julia Knox (Exercise Science), Misha Lyubavskiy (Business), Olivia Paquette (Public Health), Dara Reyblat (Organizational Communications), Marlee Rickert (Business), Connor Rodgers (Business), Barbara Schaal (Neuroscience), Zoe Schneider (Political Science), Holden Wheeler (International Relations) and Michael Wood (Environmental Science).
It's the second academic honor this season for Paquette and Rickert as both were named to the A-10 All-Academic Team. The individual recognitions come as the CSCAA selected both the GW women's and men's teams as Scholar All-America Teams after finishing with cumulative GPAs of 3.58 and 3.19, respectively. The A-10 was also selected by the CSCAA as a Scholar All-America Conference for the spring semester, one of just 11 conferences across all three divisions to earn the recognition.
To qualify for First Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second Team selections must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met a "B" time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet.
