WASHINGTON -Â GW women's rowing is set to close out its regular season by taking on some of the top crews in the U.S. at the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, held on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.Â
LAST TIME OUT
GW's Varsity 8 cruised past the competition at the Mason Invite, winning its morning heat by nearly 10 seconds. GW then came back in the afternoon with an even faster time of 6:49.1 to win the grand final by nine seconds over Bucknell.
All five of GW's boats earned top-three finishes in the Grand Finals of the invitational. The 2V8 and 3V8 both placed second in their races while the V4 and 2V4 finished third.
FORMAT
The Buff & Blue will have all five of their boats going up against some of the top competition in the country on Sunday afternoon. Seedings for morning heats were determined by a poll of the event's coaches. GW's ranks were: V8 (7th), 2V8 (9th), V4 (11th), 2V4 (12th) and 3V8 (11th).
The seeds dictated the specific heats in the morning session. The top two boats in each heat (top 3 in 3V8) will advance to the Grand Final, followed by the next two boats to the Petite Final and the remaining boats to the Third Level Final.Â
SCHEDULE
8:10 a.m. - V4 Heat 2 vs. Boston University, Rhode Island, Rutgers, Temple
