WASHINGTON - GW men's soccer senior midfielder Tim Neumann has been named as a 2024 A-10 Postgraduate Scholarship Award winner, as announced by the conference on Wednesday. The prestigious award is given to one student-athlete from each of the A-10's 15 member institutions on a yearly basis.
Over the last decade, the A-10's Postgraduate Scholarship program has awarded $570,000 to 114 former student-athletes. Each of this year's 15 honorees receives $5,000 to contribute towards full-time enrollment in a postgraduate or professional program. First instituted to provide continuing education opportunities for graduating student-athletes, the program awards $75,000 in scholarship funding to former A-10 student-athletes. This marks the eighth year the Atlantic 10 has provided the scholarships to individuals from each Atlantic 10 campus.
Neumann, an applied mathematics and data science major from Daun, Germany, has been a valued member of the men's soccer team during all four of his seasons in Foggy Bottom. Neumann has appeared in at least ten games in every season at GW, making a career-high 12 starts and 18 appearances in 2022. Neumann totaled over 3,300 minutes in the midfield for GW, finishing his career with eight assists and two goals, which included one goal and one assist in a 3-1 win in his final collegiate game on Senior Day.
A member of two academic fraternities, Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Mu Epsilon, Neumann has been recognized for his achievements in the academic realm, which includes his placement on the A-10 All-Academic Team in 2023, being a seven-time GW Dean's List selection (3.75 GPA or above) and a three-time A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll selection. Neumann has also won the Outstanding Academic Achievement award twice from GW's Columbian College of Arts and Sciences. Neumann is planning to continue his education at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, where he will pursue a Master of Science in Quantum Information and Technology.
It is the second consecutive year that GW's winner of the A-10 Postgraduate Award has come from the men's soccer team, as Neumann follows Justin Grady who was GW's winner in 2023.
