WASHINGTON – Following a stellar start in Sunday's 7-0 win over St. Bonaventure, the Atlantic 10 has announced that Graham Jeffries was named the conference's Pitcher of the Week. Jeffries becomes the third member of the Buff & Blue to earn a weekly honor, joining teammates Teddy Brennan (Pitcher of the Week) and Robbie Lavey (Rookie of the Week).
On Sunday, Jeffries tossed seven scoreless innings, punching out six St. Bonaventure batters en route to the 7-0 series-finale win. The victory helped clinch a three-game series sweep to open conference play and extends GW's win streak over St. Bonaventure to 13 games. Sunday's victory moved Jeffries record to 4-0 this season, the only member of GW's weekend rotation to still be undefeated. In total, Jeffries only allowed six base runners against the Bonnies, all of which came off hits. He only allowed one extra-base hit on the day and sat down the first eight batters he faced in the contest. Jeffries tossed 100 total pitches, his highest total this season.
In seven starts this year, Jeffries boasts a 3.38 ERA and has 33 strikeouts. He's tossed 32 total innings and holds opposing batters to a .177 batting average. In his past three starts, Jeffries has been lights out, tossing 18 combined innings and only allowing one earned run. He's been GW's winning pitcher in all three contests and holds a 0.50 ERA in that span. He's also tallied 16 strikeouts across his past three starts, averaging nearly one for every inning pitched.
Jeffries and the Revolutionaries continue the regular season on Wednesday, hosting William & Mary at Tucker Field at 3:00 p.m. Following the meeting with the Tribe, GW travels across the DMV to face A-10 foe George Mason for a three-game series starting on Friday. The series-opener is set for 3:00 p.m. in Fairfax, Va., and extends into Saturday (2:00 p.m.) and Sunday (1:00 p.m.).
