Rowing Competes in Doc Hosea Invitational Saturday

WASHINGTON - GW women's rowing is set for its second event of the spring, traveling to New Jersey to compete in the Doc Hosea Invitational on Saturday morning. The Buff & Blue will square off with Clemson, Columbia, Delaware, Georgetown, Navy, Northeastern, Penn, Rhode Island, Rutgers, Temple and Villanova.

In its opening regatta of the spring campaign, GW women's rowing defended its titles against local foes George Mason and Georgetown in the annual George's Cup and Class of 1998 Cup.
The Buff & Blue won by open water in the Varsity 8 with a time of 6:49.1, more than eight seconds better than second-place Georgetown, giving GW the Class of 1998 Cup for the 11th time in 20 matchups. The Buff & Blue also retained the George's Cup by virtue of its victory in the top boat. GW has now won eight of the 13 George's Cups.

Saturday's invitational honors former USRowing National Team Dr. Timothy Hosea, who passed away suddenly in 2015. "Doc" was an invaluable member of the rowing world who took time for all and was ingrained in the fabric of the community.
