WASHINGTON - The George Washington University men's swimmer Djurdje Matic completed his first of three events at the 2024 NCAA Championships on Thursday, finishing the 50-yard freestyle in 34th place (:19.42) with a new personal best, program and conference record.
Matic swam him quickest when it mattered most and cut .08 seconds off his conference-record time (19.54), which he set in the finals of this year's A-10 Championships while winning gold. Matic's new conference record came as he finished third-fastest in heat three.
Matic will return for his highest-seeded event, the 100-yard butterfly, tomorrow before finishing his stay at the NCAA Championships on Saturday in the 100-yard freestyle. Each remaining session will be carried live on ESPN+.
