Peters, Whitman Honored in Final EAGL Weekly Awards

WASHINGTON - GW gymnastics finished the regular season in style with a pair of honorees in the final EAGL weekly awards. Kendall Whitman was named the EAGL Gymnast of the Week and Maya Peters took home Rookie of the Week accolades.
Whitman set a career-high in the all-around on Friday at Towson with a 39.425 and also tallied a career-best on floor with a 9.975, helping GW accomplish a program-record 197.200. The senior co-captain tallied a 9.900 on vault, 9.725 on bars and 9.825 on beam to round out the night.
On Sunday in her final meet at Smith Center, Whitman finished second in the all-around with a 39.350 with her best score once again coming on floor at 9.925. The two-time NCAA qualifier finished the day with a 9.850 on beam, 9.825 on bars and 9.750 on vault.
Peters earns her second Rookie of the Week honor thanks, in part, to a 9.925 on beam in Friday night's tri-meet. She also tallied a 9.800 on bars to contribute to the Buff & Blue's program-record night. Peters then set a career-high on bars with a 9.850 on Sunday and paced GW with a 9.875 on beam, good for a third place finish.
