WASHINGTON - GW men's swimmer Djurdje Matic has qualified for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, where he will represent GW on the national stage for the second time in his career. Matic is the third Revolutionary this season to lock up a spot at the NCAA Championships, joining Ava DeAngelis and Ava Topolewski as part of a record-breaking Buff & Blue contingent going to NCAAs. It will be the most representation ever for GW at the NCAA Championships, and the first time ever that GW has had qualifiers from both the men's and women's teams in the same season.
Matic qualified for the NCAA Championships via his A-10 and program record swim in the 100-yard butterfly finals at the Bulldog Last Chance Invite (45.10) - the same event that he qualified in to get to the NCAA Championships in 2022. Matic also won gold in the event at this year's A-10 Championships (45.14). Matic is coming off a 54-point performance at the A-10 Championships, where he collected gold medals in the 100-yard butterfly, 50-yard freestyle and in four of GW's relays.
Matic will add his second trip to the NCAA Championships to his already impressive resume, which includes his recent trip to the World Aquatics Championships, where he represented Serbia at one of the world's top meets.
The 2024 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be held at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, March 27-30.
