WASHINGTON - The Atlantic 10 announced that GW swimming & diving student-athletes Connor Rodgers and Ava Topolewski have been chosen as the conference's Performers of the Week, while first-year Gage Boushee has been selected as the men's A-10 Rookie of the Week. The awards come after GW's tight dual meet against Navy, which GW's women won, 158-142, while GW's men were narrowly defeated, 157-135.
Topolewski was selected as the Performer of the Week for the second time this season, which comes after she won all three of her individual events (1,000-yard freestyle, 10:18.15; 500-yard freestyle, 5:01.63; 200-yard freestyle, 1:51.99) last Saturday and anchored GW's 200-yard freestyle relay to victory (1:35.31).
For Rodgers, it is his first weekly honor of the season and it comes after his standout performance winning both the 400-yard IM (3:59.23) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:49.41). Rodgers also swam the second leg of GW's 400-yard medley relay (3:18.69), which finished a close second to Navy's 'A' relay.
Boushee also grabs his first weekly honor of the year in a meet highlighted by his second-place finish in the 400-yard IM (3:59.42), just 0.19 seconds off Rodgers' pace. Boushee bolstered his Rookie of the Week resume by registering the fourth-fastest time in the 100-yard free (47.07) and the fifth-fastest time in the 200-yard free (1:41.49).
The Revolutionaries are off until Dec. 6-8 when they participate in their midseason meet at the Princeton Big Al Invitational.
