Podium Challenge Marks First Tri Meet of 2024 Season
WASHINGTON – The George Washington gymnastics team will visit Battle Creek, Mich., on Saturday for the Next Level Gymnastics Podium Challenge with Western Michigan and Illinois State at 7 p.m.

GW gymnastics scored a 195.025 at home on Sunday as part of a second-place finish behind Penn, who scored a 195.375. Temple placed third with a score of 194.100, followed by Yale with a score of 193.325 and Cornell with a score of 192.850.
GW scored a 48.775 on vault, a 47.975 on bars, 49.025 on beam and a 49.250 on floor.
Sarah Zois came in first out of all performers with a 9.850 on vault. Newcomer Sophia Tyeryar took first place on bars with a score of 9.725. Anneliese Silverman came in first on beam with a score of 9.850. Whitman paced the floor rotation for the second meet in a row with a score of 9.925.

Western Michigan is coming off a second-place finish at the Illinois Quad Meet in Urbana-Champaign, Ill. with a score of 196.000 behind UIUC, who scored a 196.500. West Virginia placed third with a score of 195.050, followed by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a score of 192.475.
Illinois State finished first in their home opener meet with a score of 195.750 at CEFCU Arena on Friday, Jan. 12. The Redbirds hosted Central Michigan, Greenville and Texas Women's. Central Michigan posted a score of 194.000, followed by Texas Women's with a score of 193.775, and Greenville finished in fourth with a score of 185.600.
