Cross Country Sets Multiple PR’s at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The George Washington men's and women's cross country team set multiple personal records at the annual Paul Short Run on Saturday afternoon. As a team, the men finished third out of 47 in the Brown 8K race, while the women came in 24th out of 44 teams in the Gold 8K event. Leading the way for the men was sophomore Jacob Heredia, who tallied a time of 25:05.3 to finish fourth as an individual, while the women were paced by sophomore Sarah Mitchell, who clocked a PR time of 21:34.1 to finish 78th overall.

NOTEWORTHY
- The men's team tallied a score of 165 to register a third-place finish out of 47 teams.
- Heredia led the way for the men with a time of 25:03.3, while junior Kevin Conlon clocked a time of 25:20.2 to finish 16th as an individual.
- Behind Conlon was senior Lucas Brown, who finished with a time of 25:36.1 to finish 33rd, while sophomore Austin Brotemarkle continued his strong start to the season with a time of 25:48.2 to finish 50th out of the 400-runner field.
- The men's team also had five runners compete in the 8K open race as well. The event was timed, but no team scores were recorded.
- Senior William Gay recorded a PR in the open race, recording a time of 26:58.2 to finish 187th.
- On the women's side, Mitchell led the way with her PR of 21:34.1.
- Following Mitchell, first-year Lola Dinneen also recorded a PR with a time of 21:58.5 to finish 130th, while junior Olivia Syftestad finished with a 22:05.6 for 141st.
- First-year Julia Shanes, sophomore Una Boylan, and senior Claire McDonnell all tallied PR's in the race as well. Shanes finished with a 22:10.2 for 154th, Boylan recorded a 22:11.2 for 158th and McDonnell notched a 23:34.8 to finish 309th.
- The women's team also had four runners compete in the 6K open race. First-year Erin Wallwork led the Buff & Blue in the event, recording a PR with a time of 23:09.4 to finish 35th.
