Women's Rowing Lands Four on A-10 All-Academic Team

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -Â The Atlantic 10 champion George Washington women's rowing team added to its season-long accolades on Friday, placing a conference-high four members on the All-Academic team.Â
Anne Marie Avendt, Ezi Emenike, Natalie Kreusch and Lana Sumner-Borema earned the honor for their achievement in the classroom as well as on the water.
Avendt, who was named a CRCA Scholar-Athlete last year, holds a 3.91 GPA in Political Science and was a member of GW's gold-medal-winning 2V8 boat at the A-10 and NCAA Championships.
Emineke joined the Buff & Blue this year as a graduate transfer from USC and has a 3.68 GPA while pursuing her Master's of Media and Strategic Communication. She was also named to the All-Conference team after taking part in the V8's gold-medal winning race at the A-10s.
Likewise, Kreusch is pursuing her Master's in Education and Human Development with an emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction and maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA in the program. The Bucknell transfer sat in the stroke seat for the V8 at both A-10s and NCAAs.
Sumner-Borema is the third graduate student to earn the accolade, posting a 3.93 GPA in her Master's of Public Health program with a focus on Global Health Epidemiology and Disease Control. A transfer from Barry University, Sumner-Borema was also a member of the V8 gold-medal crew at A-10s and NCAAs.
