Rowing Continues NCAA Championships with Semifinal Saturday

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - GW women's rowing continued to position itself for Championship Sunday with semifinal races at the NCAA Championship on the Cooper River on Saturday.
The morning began with the V8 competing in the C/D semifinals and improving on its time from Friday by nearly 10 seconds, finishing in 6:48.077, its best time of the season. The Buff & Blue finished fourth in the heat and will compete in the D Final at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
The 2V8, the highest-ranked of GW's three boats, guaranteed a finish higher than its seed with a thrilling final push to finish third in its semifinal in a time of 6:51.371. GW edged out Northeastern by 0.326 seconds to earn a spot in the C Final on Sunday at 8:48 a.m.
The V4 showed an improved effort in its semifinal race, erasing 27 seconds off its time from Friday's heat. GW crossed in a time of 8:07.058 to finish fifth in the semi and move on the D Final at 8:12 a.m. on Sunday.
Sunday brings about the final races of the National Championship. GW's V8 and V4 will compete in the D Finals, which will earn a final ranking of 19th-22nd, while the 2V8 will place between 13th-18th by virtue of being in the C final. The combined score of the three boats will determine GW's final team ranking.
