PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - GW women's rowing made its long-anticipated team debut at the NCAA Championship on Friday morning, racing on the Cooper River against the nation's top crews.

The Buff & Blue held or improved their seed in all three heat races, advancing to the C/D semifinals of each boat on Saturday morning.

The day started with the Varsity 8 breaking the seven-minute mark with a time of 6:58.684 to finish fifth in its heat and 19th out of 22 boats, two spots improved from the boat's seed of 21st in the championship.

The 2V8 also came in fifth in its heat with a time of 7:21.244, matching the 19th-place finish of the V8 overall. The V4 rounded out the morning by finishing sixth in its heat with a time of 8:34.866 to place 22nd overall.

Semifinal Saturday will take place tomorrow with the C/D semifinal heats determining Sunday's Championship seeding. The V8 will race at 8:24 a.m., followed by the 2V8 at 9:00 a.m. and the V4 will launch at 10:00 a.m.
