Buff and Blue captures 19 individual medals on Day Three
GENEVA, OHIO - Day three of the A-10 Championships was full of medals and records as GW swimming and diving built upon both of its leads heading into the final day of competition. GW captured 19 individual medals and one relay medal on day three and now hold substantial leads on both sides of the pool, with 522 (men) and 586 (women) points apiece.
Men's Highlights:
-
The men placed four into the 400-yard IM and could not have wished for a better result. GW finished with all-four top spots, highlighted by Connor Rodgers winning gold (3:46.25) and breaking the A-10 400-yard IM record. Behind Rodgers followed Marek Osina in second (3:46.55), Bode Ringenbach in third (3:47.30) and Misha Lyubavskiy in fourth (3:51.06).

Djurdje Matic set the A-10 meet record and took first place (45.76) in the 100-yard butterfly final. Matic was just .24 seconds away from the overall A-10 record which he set last year at the Bulldog Invitational. Matthew Whelan followed behind Matic and earned the bronze medal (46.79).

Women's highlights:
-
In today's prelims, Julia Knox crushed (4:11.44) the 400-yard IM A-10 meet record (4:13.27), just one day after setting the A-10 overall record in the 200-yard IM. -
GW medaled two in the women's 100-yard butterfly. Barbara Schaal took gold (53.80) and was just .05 seconds off the program record time, which she set in the morning prelim. Moriah Freitas was behind Schaal in third (54.11) and will bring home a bronze medal in the event.
-
GW completed a podium sweep in the 200-yard freestyle final thanks to top swims from Phoebe Wright, Siena Senn and Grace Olivardia. First-year Wright led the way (1:47.71), then followed Senn (1:49.08) and Olivardia (1:49.20).
-
Ava DeAngelis broke the program's 100-yard breaststroke record twice today. DeAngelis opened by swimming a 1:01.52 in the prelim, later besting that time with a 1:01.01 in the final which won her silver.
-
Schaal later swam a 54.00 in the 100-yard backstroke which won her a silver medal.
-
Olivia Paquette represented GW on the podium in the three-meter dive. The program record holder in the event nabbed bronze in the final (293.70).
