GW Baseball Alum Trevor Kuncl Signs with Texas Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas – GW baseball alum Trevor Kuncl '22 has signed a minor league contract with the reigning World Series Champion Texas Rangers, the club announced on Wednesday. Kuncl, a four-year member of the GW baseball program and 2022 graduate, spent the previous two seasons playing for the Lake Erie Crushers in the Frontier League.
In his rookie season with the Crushers, Kuncl made 28 appearances out of the bullpen. He finished with a 3.62 ERA and struck out 33 batters on the year. In 2023, Kuncl appeared in 27 games, recording 27.1 innings pitched. He tallied an identical 3.62 ERA and struck out 27 batters on the year. He averaged 8.89 strikeouts per nine innings and only issued 14 walks, showing significant improvement in his second professional season.
During his time in Foggy Bottom Kuncl was an impact player, leaving his mark on the program through his stellar relief pitching. In 75 career appearances, Kuncl ranks third in program history with 16 saves, while also posting a career record of 6-3. Kuncl's win percentage of .667 is 14th in program history, and he was awarded the team's Jackie Robinson Award following the 2022 season. Kuncl graduated from GW with a bachelor's degree in Investments & Portfolio Management.
