Swimming and Diving Wraps Up Day One of Rutgers Invite

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Highlighted by another win on the diving boards, the George Washington men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished Day One of the Rutgers Invite on Friday evening. The Buff and Blue will be back in the water for Session Two tomorrow at 10 a.m., before finishing out the meet with Session Three at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

The 400-yard medley relay clocked in at 3:50.39 to finish in second place, the highest finish of the night for the GW women. The relay was swam by Phoebe Wright, Ava DeAngelis, Moriah Freitas and Marlee Rickert.

Ava Topolewski swam the 500-yard freestyle in 5:01.86 and finished in third place.

Sophomore diver Olivia Paquette just missed out on a top-three finish on the 1m board (255.30), just over two points shy of the third-place finisher.

Rickert took seventh place in the 50-yard freestyle (24.47).
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

First-year diver Ben Bradley won his first collegiate event, topping the men's 3m board (281.80). Fellow first-year Michael Wood finished closely behind in third place (271.75).

The men opened the meet finishing in second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:23.23).

Connor Rodgers finished second in the 200-yard IM (1:51.74) behind only Alex Edwards from Army.

Misha Lyubavskiy (4:35.47) and Daniel Choi (4:25.83) finished in fourth and fifth place in the 500-yard freestyle.

GW had three swimmers finish with top-eight 50-free times: veteran swimmer Djurdje Matic took second (20.65), followed by newcomer Toni Dragoja (21.19) and sophomore Jason Hawkins (21.43).

The men closed out Session One with a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay (3:20.80), which was swam by Karol Mlynarczyk, Preston Lin, Matic and Dragoja.
