Men’s Cross Country Finishes Fifth at A-10 Championships

CEDARVILLE, OH – Graduate student Ryan Fowkes recorded a time of 24:42.53 to pace the George Washington men's cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships. Fowkes time earned him a 20^th-place finish as an individual out of the 141-runner field.

NOTEWORTHY

The men finished in fifth place out of 15 competing teams. GW recorded a team score of 181. Loyola Chicago claimed the team title with a score of 26.
Chris Devaney of Loyola Chicago finished in first as an individual with a time of 23:48.51.
Along with Fowkes, GW was led by senior Kevin Conlon, who turned in a solid showing with a time of 24:46.01. Conlon finished 23^rd as an individual.
Sophomore Jacob Heredia clocked a time of 25:02.1 for a 40^th-place finish, while sophomore Austin Brotemarkle recorded a time of 25:08.81 to finish 47^th.
Graduate student Lucas Brown notched a time of 25:21.34 for 59^th, while fellow graduate student Pat Castellano tallied a time of 25:48.39 for 80^th.
Senior Pierce Kapustka finished 83^rd with a time of 25:52.63 with first year Brayden Bayek right behind with a time of 25:59.70 to record 90^th.
First-year Joe Fahrney notched a time of 26:30.87 in his first championship race to finish 111^th, and first-year Cole McCue rounded out GW's runners with a time of 26:57.52 for 119^th.
