Meinen Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – First-year Alexa Meinen has been named the A-10 Rookie of the Week for her part in leading GW to a 3-2 win over St. Bonaventure, the conference announced on Monday.
Meinen, a native of North Port, N.Y., posted one goal and one assist in GW's season finale win over the Bonnies. Meinen tallied the Buff & Blue's first goal of the day in the 68th minute, tying the score up at one apiece midway through the second half. Later in the match, with the score knotted at two, Meinen dished an assist off to teammate Aoi Kataoka who buried the eventual game-winning goal in the 80th minute.
Meinen finishes her rookie season with three goals and two assists. Her three points against the Bonnies is a new career-high and puts a cap on a standout first-year season.
