Women's Tennis Travels to Liberty for ITA Atlantic Regional

Lynchburg, VA -- Six student-athletes on the George Washington University Revolutionaries women's tennis team will take to the courts at Liberty tomorrow, with singles play starting at 9 a.m. In the singles draw, Gabriela Giraldo will take on Maria Turchetto of Liberty, Madison Lee takes on VCU's Tiziana Rossini and Victoria Sasinka battles St. Joe's Ireland Amato in the ITA Atlantic Regional. Stella Wiesemann is entered in the main draw.Â
Doubles play features Giraldo and Lee taking on a pair from George Mason, Solange Skeene and Alejandra Ramirez playing a pair from Liberty, and Wiesemann and Sasinka battling the 12th-seeded duo from Virginia.
Competing teams from October 19-23 at the Liberty Tennis Complex include: Liberty, Delaware, George Mason, Georgetown, Howard, JMU, Loyola, Marshall, Maryland, Morgan State, Mount St. Mary's, Navy, Norfolk State, ODU, Penn State, Radford, Richmond, Saint Joseph's, Towson, VCU, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and William & Mary.
Winners will qualify for the Fall National Championships.
The format of the tournament calls for doubles to be played in an eight-game pro-set through the Quarterfinals, with two out of three sets for the Semifinals and Finals. In singles play, in Qualifying and Consolation, two sets will be played with 10-point tiebreaks in the third set. In the Main draw, two out of three full sets wins it.
