Women’s Indoor Track Begins Season with Strong Showing at Cardinal Classic

Two first-place finishes and 15 top-10 finishes highlight GW’s first meet of the year
WASHINGTON – George Washington women's indoor track & field showcased strong running across multiple events on Saturday, earning a pair of first place finishes in the mile and 800m, as well as 13 additional top-10 finishes in four events at the Cardinal Classic, hosted by Catholic University.
In her event debut, first-year Sarah Mitchell finished first in the mile. Mitchell, who earned Cross Country A-10 All-Rookie honors last fall, crossed the finish line in a time of 5:02.09. Finishing just 10 tenths of a second behind Mitchell was teammate Yukino Parle, who finished in a time of 5:02.19. Izzy Doran (5:19.36) and Una Boylan (5:28.93) also recorded top-10 finishes in the mile.
GW also claimed a first-place finish in the 800m behind a personal-best time from grad student Lexi Seifert. Seifert, who made her GW debut in the event, recorded a time of 2:18.38. Additionally, Mitchell, Boylan, Rita Mazumder and Kristen Long all made their event debut in the 800m on Saturday and finished in the top-10.
