Kuncl Joins Baseball Staff as Director of Baseball Operations

Former Colonials' closer tabbed by Coach Ritchie to help run day-to-day operations
WASHINGTON -Â George Washington baseball coach Gregg Ritchie announced the hiring of former Colonial Trevor Kuncl to the team's staff on Thursday. Kuncl, who graduated from GW this past year, will be the program's Director of Baseball Operations.Â
"When Trevor decided to come to GW, we knew he would have success and he did not disappoint! He achieved for his teammates as an exceptional performer on the mound and achieved in the classroom," said Ritchie. "He is a person that displays an elite level of determination, commitment and respect in all that he does and his impact on others is obvious. We are proud and fortunate to welcome Trevor as our Director of Baseball Operations. He will have a tremendous impact on the success of this program and each of our student-athletes. We know he will bring his relentless manner and an elite level of attitude and effort to our team. Trevor Kuncl bleeds Buff & Blue and is a first-class addition to our staff."
Kuncl returns to Foggy Bottom following his first pro season as a member of the Lake Erie Crushers. While playing in the Frontier League, Kuncl went 2-0 with a 3.62 ERA and struck out 33 batters in 37.1 IP.Â
During his five-year career with the Colonials, Kuncl dominated hitters on the mound, striking out 116 batters in 121.1 IP. As the Buff & Blue's closer, Kuncl racked up 16 saves, which is third all-time in program history.Â
Off the field, Kuncl was awarded the 2022 Jackie Robinson Award by GW's Jackie and Rachel Robinson Society. The award is presented annually to a GW baseball player who exhibits the selfless
qualities of the legendary sports hero.

The opportunity to return to GW baseball, a program that gave so much to me over the past five years, fills me with indescribable joy," said Kuncl. "I can not wait to continue to help contribute to the success of this program, and I will do everything in my power to help Coach Ritchie and his staff compete both on and off the diamond."
