Stoicovy-Worrell enters eighth season with GW gymnastics
WASHINGTON – GW gymnastics Head Coach Margie Foster-Cunningham announced Monday that Stephanie Stoicovy-Worrell will now serve as Associate Head Coach.
"Stephanie's elevation to Associate Head Coach is a testament to her loyalty to GW, her commitment to developing each student-athlete and her winning mindset," said Foster-Cunningham. "We all are motivated by her presence and commitment to the success of the GW gymnastics program."Â
Entering her eighth season alongside Foster-Cunningham, Stoicovy-Worrell joined the GW program in 2015 following a decorated gymnastics career in Buff & Blue.
Since then, she has helped coach two (2022 & 2017) EAGL Championship teams and three NCAA Regional Selections (2016-18). Along with national and conference recognition, the Buff & Blue have hit new milestones, broke program records and boasted top ranks in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) and the NCAA.
This past season, Stoicovy-Worrell coached EAGL Gymnast of the Year, Deja Chambliss, as well as a pair of NCAA Regional Qualifiers with Chambliss in the all-around and Kendall Whitman on floor. She also helped Chambliss to a pair of event titles (vault and floor) at the 2022 EAGL Championship before the team clinched the program's third all-time EAGL crown. Â
In 2018, Stoicovy-Worrell was named EAGL Assistant Coach of the Year and NACGC/W Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year after elevating the program in all four events.
Stoicovy-Worrell helped GW to an EAGL Championship in 2017 and an NCAA Regionals appearance, where the team registered a new postseason high score of 195.625 at the Morgantown Regional. She also played a key role in the development of standout gymnasts Cami Drouin-Allaire (2017 EAGL all-around and vault champion; NCAA Championship qualifier), Chelsea Raineri (NCAA Championship qualifier) and Jillian Winstanley (EAGL Scholar-Athlete of the Year).
In her first season with Foster-Cunningham, she helped GW clinch a NCAA Regionals berth for its second consecutive year after the team capped the regular season with an EAGL Championship. Stoicovy-Worrell also played a role in the development of then-sophomore Cami Drouin-Allaire, who was named EAGL Gymnast of the Year in 2016.
