WASHINGTON - George Washington women's soccer head coach Michelle Demko announced the addition of Alex Zaroyan to the team's staff as an assistant coach.
"I am thrilled to welcome Alex to our GW family. His value of people, high emotional intelligence and desire to compete at the highest level will immediately impact the development of our program," said Demko. "Alex has a proven history of strong leadership and development. He understands the discipline it takes to win and the importance of building strong relationships in pursuit of excellence."
Zaroyan arrives in Foggy Bottom following two seasons working as an assistant coach for the UT Martin Seahawks. During his two years in Tennessee, Zaroyan coached UT Martin to 17 wins, while helping lead the program to its fifth Ohio Valley Conference championship in 2021.
Prior to UT Martin, Zaroyan spent the 2019-20 campaign at Angelia College where he was an assistant for both the men's and women's soccer teams. While with the Roadrunners, he helped lead both teams to the postseason while watching the men's program notch its first playoff victory. Academically, his players led all other sports at Angelina on the President's and Dean's academic lists.
Along with his coaching abilities, Zaroyan has accumulated a diverse skill set while working all around the sport. He worked as a live charter and tracker with Match Analysis, tracking more than 750 hours of soccer matches in leagues and teams ranging from Major League Soccer, Liga MX, U.S. Men's and Women's National teams and NCAA Division I programs across the nation. He has obtained his U.S. Soccer D and Cal South E licenses along with his U.S. Soccer National C license. He also boasts NCAA coaching certificates and Futsal coaching certificates with the NSCAA.
Zaroyan's own playing experiences ranged from playing club and high school soccer. He also had a trial with LIGA MX Academy Side, Tiburones Veracruz
A native of Monrovia, Calif., Zaroyan earned his master's degree in strategic communication from UT Martin in 2022, and his bachelor's degree in sports and recreational management with a concentration in governance and policy from Temple University in 2018.
