Men’s Soccer Stays Sharp with Summer Competition

Eleven student-athletes are playing this summer
In preparation for the upcoming fall season, 11 GW men's soccer student-athletes are currently playing in summer leagues around the nation.
Here are a few highlights from the group with just a few weeks left before they report back to the nation's capital for preseason training:
Oscar Haynes Brown, Alexandria Reds – Decorated forward scored both goals in summer debut with local NPSL club in a 2-1 win over Grove Soccer United on June 12 and netted the game-winner in Saturday's 2-0 win over First State FC.
Justin Grady, Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals – In addition to his academic pursuits, the goalkeeper has started nine of 10 games for squad that is 6-1-3 overall in the NPSL Keystone Division, allowing one goal or fewer six times.
Elias Norris, FC Frederick – Versatile veteran ranks tied for eighth in the NPSL East Region with six goals in nine appearances.
Tom Cooklin, Kalamazoo FC – Midfielder has notched a goal and two assists over seven appearances for the Michigan-based USL 2 club, which heads into the playoffs with a record of 7-2-4.
Grant Barrientos, FC Motown STA – Midfielder has seen action in eight games for a USL 2 side in his native New Jersey that is 5-4-3 overall.
Ryan Cedeno, Colo-Colo Academy – Defender has helped his home state club to a 11-1-1 mark and the top spot in the UPSL's South Florida Division standings.
Duncan Wegner, Wake FC – Goalkeeper has seen action in four games for his home state USL 2 club, including a 4-0 clean sheet vs. Tobacco Road FC on May 28.
Tiago Carvalho, Wake FC – Midfielder has played in four games with USL 2 club alongside his teammate Wegner.
Carter Humm, Northern Virginia United – Midfielder has seen action in eight matches (five starts) for club that ranks second behind Haynes Brown's Alexandria Reds in the NPSL Mid-Atlantic Division.
Sean Vaghedi, Northern Virginia United – Midfielder has made eight appearances with five starts alongside his teammate Humm with the local club.
Richard Raupp, Long Island Rough Riders – Goalkeeper is just getting the USL Academy season underway and has helped his hometown club off to a 3-0 start.
