Chambliss takes home the program's top honor
Following its memorable 2022 season, GW gymnastics has announced its annual end-of-season awards.
Deja Chambliss received the top honor, the Lindsey Ferris Award. This award is presented to the gymnast who best exemplifies the late gymnastics alumna's team spirit and leadership qualities. Chambliss will be formally recognized at next season's Lindsey Ferris Invitational.
Chambliss also earned the top performer award in three events: vault, floor and in the all-around. Chambliss recorded a 9.910 NQS on floor after finishing first in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League. Chambliss registered a 9.895 NQS on vault and averaged a 39.315 in the all-around. It's the second straight season in which Chambliss has been GW's top performer on vault and all-around.
Payton Lynch was named Entertainer of the Year and earned the starter award on floor. Senior Simone Banen received the Colonial Heart Award and Rachel Katz earned the Outstanding Rookie honor.
Nora Houseman and Julia Peters shared the Academic Award, with both gymnasts carrying a 4.0 GPA.
