GW to wrap spring slate at home next weekend
WASHINGTON – GW women's tennis will play its final pair of road matches this weekend, visiting George Mason on Friday and Saint Joseph's on Saturday. Both matches are set for 2 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
GW split a pair of A-10 matches last weekend, blanking Rhode Island, 4-0, on Saturday before falling 4-0 at UMass on Sunday. At Rhode Island, GW won all three doubles matches before three straight-set sweeps in singles play for the squad's third shutout victory of the season. Katarina Marinkovikj, Stella Wiesemann and Lara McNaughten earned the three singles victories for GW.
MATCHING UP WITH MASON
The Patriots are 12-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Mason heads into Friday with a three-match winning streak after topping Longwood, Loyola (Md.) and Saint Joseph's. Savanna Crowell and Paige La lead the Patriots with 14 and 12 singles wins, respectively. La and partner Hannah Yang are 10-5 this season in doubles play.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Saint Joseph's (5-10, 0-4 A-10) will look to tally its first conference win vs. GW on Saturday. The Hawks recently outlasted Coppin State in a 5-2 triumph, winning five of the six singles matches to set the final margin.
ROAD AHEAD
Next weekend, GW will host Duquesne for its Senior Day match at 1 p.m. The Buff & Blue will then await the final conference standings for the Atlantic 10 Championship on April 27-30 in Orlando, Fla.
