Chambliss and Whitman Advance to NCAA Regionals

Duo to head to Raleigh, N.C., to compete as individuals
INDIANAPOLIS - Deja Chambliss and Kendall Whitman of GW gymnastics have been selected to compete in this year's NCAA Regionals as individual competitors. Chambliss and Whitman will head to NC State University on March 31, with Chambliss competing in the all-around and Whitman on floor.
The NCAA gymnastics committee selects the top 12 all-around competitors and top 16 event specialists based on national qualifying scores and places them in one of four regional sites. Chambliss earned her individual nod with a 39.315 NQS, a mark that is 35th in the country. Whitman advanced with her 9.890 NQS on floor.
Chambliss was recently named East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Year after a standout season that saw the graduate student finish first in EAGL on vault, floor and in the all-around. On Saturday, Chambliss was crowned vault and floor champion at EAGL Championships, helping her team to its third conference title and first since 2017. In addition, this year will mark the second-straight season that Chambliss has advanced as an individual, after competing in the Salt Lake City Regional on vault last season.
Whitman ended her sophomore season second in EAGL on floor. Whitman posted eight scores of 9.850+ throughout the season, including a 9.875 at EAGL Championships, which qualified her for the All-Tournament team. Whitman scored a season-high 9.925 on Feb. 27, earning her a share of the floor title.
The pair will compete on Thursday, March 31 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., in Raleigh, N.C.
