Chambliss Named EAGL Gymnast of the Week After Earning Fourth All-Around Title

Chambliss earns the honor following GW’s season-high second-place finish at Pittsburgh

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - For the third time this season, Deja Chambliss has been named East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

On Sunday, Chambliss lifted GW gymnastics to a season-high performance in the team's second-place finish at Pitt. The Chesterfield, Va., native put together a 39.600 in the all-around, a score that ties for second in all-time program history.

Chambliss' all-around score came behind event scores of a 9.925 on vault, a 9.850 on airs, a 9.925 on beam and a 9.900 on floor. The graduate student led GW on all four events and topped the podium on vault, beam and floor.

Chambliss leads EAGL with a 9.875 NQS on vault.

GW will host Senior Day on Sunday at 1 p.m. when it welcomes Temple and NC State to the Charles E. Smith Center. The Buff & Blue will then compete three more times on the road before hosting EAGL Championships on March 19.
