Cooklin selected to First-Team, Haynes Brown to Second-Team
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Two members of GW men's soccer have earned Atlantic 10 postseason awards. Senior midfielder Tom Cooklin was named to the A-10's First Team, and graduate forward Oscar Haynes Brown was named to the Second Team.
It was a record-setting year for Tom Cooklin as a part of GW's midfield with three goals and 13 assists. Cooklin's assist total was the highest in the A-10 and second-highest in the NCAA. It was the most assists in a single-season by a Colonial since 1997 and the third-most ever at GW in a single season. Cooklin's 22 career assists are tied for the fourth-most ever at GW. This is the first First Team nomination for Cooklin, who was also named to the Spring 2021 All-Academic Team and All-Championship Team.
Oscar Haynes Brown, one of the top goal-scorers in GW history, also stamped his name in the record book this season, moving into fourth on GW's all-time goals list (38) and fifth on GW's all-time points list (84). Haynes Brown scored seven goals and had two assists this season, and was second on the team in points behind Cooklin. It is the fifth postseason award in Haynes Brown's career (2x First-Team, 2x Second-Team, 1x Rookie-Team).
