Redshirt senior forward named to All-Atlantic 10 Third Team, All-Atlantic 10 Defensive Team

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – George Washington women's basketball forward Mayowa Taiwo was named to the Preseason A-10 All-Conference Third Team and A-10 All-Defensive Team, the league announced on Tuesday. The preseason awards are the first of Taiwo's career.

The redshirt senior enters the 2022 campaign following an impressive junior year that saw her dominate on the glass. In 2021-22, Taiwo led the Buff & Blue in rebounding, averaging 8.7 a night, while also placing in the top-15 nationally in offensive rebounds per game (4.0). Taiwo also recorded a team-leading six double-doubles last season.

Taiwo will begin the new season on the cusp of becoming the 29^th player in program history to record 500 career rebounds. She currently sits at 492 career boards.

GW will kick off its 2022-23 campaign on Nov. 7 when it travels down to Charlottesville to face off with Virginia. Tip is scheduled for 5 p.m. from John Paul Jones Arena.
