Cross Country Earns Dual A-10 Performer of the Week Honors

The honors cap off a strong showing by GW at the JMU Invitational

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Junior James Glockenmeier and first-year Olivia Syftestad of the GW cross country teams were named the A-10's men's performer of the week and women's rookie performer of the week, respectively, it was announced on Tuesday.

Glockenmeier earned his first collegiate win at the JMU Invitational on Friday, finishing in a time of 25:43.5. His efforts helped to fuel an incredible team effort that saw the Buff & Blue take four of the top five positions to earn their second team victory.

Syftestad, competing in her second-ever collegiate meet, finished ninth in a time of 20:03.6. This is the second time this season that Syftestad has earned Rookie Performer of the Week honors, her first coming after a third-place finish at the Mount St. Mary's Duals.

This season marks the first time in program history that both the men's and women's cross country teams have begun a season with back-to-back team victories.
