Buff & Blue visit Dukes on Saturday
GW men's soccer kicks off its Atlantic 10 schedule on Saturday at Duquesne. It's a 7 p.m. start at Rooney Field in Pittsburgh with the action broadcast via ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT: GW fell at William & Mary, 1-0, on Tuesday evening in its first of four straight road matches. After allowing a first-half goal, the Buff and Blue largely dictated play after halftime, including a 7-3 shot advantage, but were unable to produce the equalizer.
DEPENDABLE DEFENSE: GW has allowed one goal or fewer in five of six matches this season, ceding a total of six scores in as many outings.
Justin Grady has played every minute in goal, compiling a 0.98 goals against average and .750 save percentage. Both totals rank fifth among A-10 keepers.
GOING DEEP: Roee Tenne, Carter Humm and Demi Amigun earned their first starts of the season on Wednesday at William & Mary. In all, 19 different student-athletes have made at least one start for GW through six games.
Grady, Ryan Cedeno and Josh Yurasits are the lone members of the Buff and Blue to crack the starting lineup in every contest.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN: GW will play an eight-game A-10 schedule, looking to earn a repeat trip to the conference tournament. The A-10 Championship returns to its traditional eight-team format this fall, beginning with opening-round play at campus sites on Nov. 6-7.
SCOUTING THE DUKES: Duquesne beat Canisius, 4-0, on Wednesday to improve to 4-2 on the season. Both of its losses have come to ranked foes.
The Dukes lead the A-10 thus far at 2.33 goals per game, paced by Maxi Hopfer, who has 14 points via five goals and four assists to pace the conference.
UP NEXT: GW has two more road games on tap next week. The Buff and Blue are set to visit Mount St. Mary's for a non-conference matchup on Wednesday before traveling to Fordham on Saturday for a rematch of last spring's A-10 Championship final.
