Tom Macauley Named Revolutionaries Student-Athlete of the Week
8/31/2026 11:00:00 AM | General, Men's Soccer
GW men's soccer goalkeeper Tom Macauley was named the GW Student-Athlete of the Week, the department announced on Monday.
Macaulay was flawless as he led the men's soccer team to a 1-0 record last week with a shutout win at Navy on Friday night. The Midshipmen fired a total of 10 shots in Macauley's direction, and the GW goalkeeper turned aside all three balls that were fired on-target to preserve his second straight-shutout and eighth clean sheet of his career.
A senior from Filey, England, Macauley has served as GW's primary goalkeeper each of the last four seasons. His 74 saves last year were the 14th most in the NCAA and the most in the Atlantic 10. Macaulay has played every minute for GW through the first three matches of 2026 and currently owns career bests in save percentage (.769) and goals-against average (1.00).
The Revolutionaries are back in action tonight as they take on an unbeaten UMBC side in Baltimore at 7 p.m., with the match streaming on ESPN+.
