Veteran forward is a two-time All-Conference selection
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington graduate student Oscar Haynes Brown has been named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Team, the league announced on Friday.
The forward from London, England was named to the All-Conference First Team for the second time last spring after scoring five goals in eight games and helping the Buff and Blue advance to the A-10 Championship final for the first time since 2011.
Making his return to the lineup after missing most of the 2019 season due to injury, Haynes Brown tied for the A-10 lead and ranked 28th nationally with .625 goals per game. His sterling campaign included a pair of game-winning goals and a two-score effort in the victory at Davidson to close the regular season that clinched the conference's Central Pod title for the Buff and Blue.
Haynes Brown was also an All-Conference First Team selection in 2018 after finishing among the nation's leaders with a career-high 25 points via 11 goals and three assists. For his career, he has totaled 49 points in 34 career games with 22 goals and five assists.
In the A-10 preseason poll, GW was ranked sixth out of 13 clubs with 98 points. Defending champion Fordham (155 points) topped the list after voting from the league's head coaches, followed by Saint Louis (148), Dayton (140), UMass (124) and VCU (123).
The Buff and Blue head into the fall season with all 23 student-athletes who saw action during the spring season back on the roster. The veteran squad is set to open its 17-game regular season next Thursday on home turf at the Mount Vernon Campus with a 1 p.m. kickoff vs. VMI.
