All-Conference team captain bolsters GW's backcourt
WASHINGTON - GW women's basketball head coach Caroline McCombs continued the molding of the team's 2021-22 roster with the addition of Kyara Frames as a graduate transfer from Albany. Frames is the ninth new addition to the program this year.
"We are thrilled to bring Kyara back home for her final season of eligibility," McCombs said. "Kyara is a true leader, floor general and competitor. She will add so much value to our team through her experiences up to this point in her collegiate career."
A Laurel, Md., native, Frames was a team captain and All-Conference point guard for the Great Danes in the America East, going toe-to-toe with McCombs' Stony Brook squads over the last four seasons. She made 109 appearances for Albany in her career, starting 78 games while averaging 8.2 ppg and 2.5 apg.
The 5-foot-2 point guard led the Great Danes in 3-point percentage (.357), made 3s (25) and steals (21) during the 2020-21 season, posting double digits on nine occasions. She was named to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team in 2019-20 following her best year as a sophomore in 2018-19 when she earned Third Team All-Conference honors.
As a sophomore, Frames was sixth in the nation in minutes played (38.2) and led the team with a career-high 12.8 ppg that was good for ninth in the America East.
Using her final year of eligibility, Frames provides experience to the point guard position that features fellow grad transfer Sierra Bell (Purdue Fort Wayne), junior college transfer Sheslanie Laureano (Florida SouthWestern) and rising sophomore Aurea Gingras.
