Pair honored by United Soccer Coaches
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Justin Grady and Oscar Haynes Brown of GW men's soccer have landed All-Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches.
A sophomore goalkeeper, Grady was selected to the All-Southeast Region First Team, while Haynes Brown earned a place on the All-Region Second Team at forward.
Both were recognized for their stellar play in leading the Buff and Blue to their first Atlantic 10 final since 2011 this spring. This is the first time since 2007 when Abimbola Pedro and Andy Stadler were recognized that the program has landed multiple All-Region honorees.
Grady was excellent in net in his sophomore season, helming a nationally-ranked defensive unit. The Wyncote, Pa., native finished with 41 total saves, a 0.65 goals against average and a .854 save percentage after yielding just seven goals across 10 games. He recorded five shutouts, including a 1-0 blanking of top-seeded Dayton at the A-10 Championship.
Grady is the program's first All-Region First Team pick since 2009. He was previously honored on the All A-10 Second Team and the conference's All-Championship Team.
Haynes Brown was the Buff and Blue's leading scorer in a return to high-scoring form after missing most of the 2019 season due to injury. The senior from London, England, netted five goals in eight appearances, finishing tied for the conference lead at 0.62 scores per game.
It's the first All-Region nod for Haynes Brown, who is a two-time A-10 All-Conference First Team pick. He's been a steady source of offense throughout his collegiate career, posting 49 points via 22 goals and five assists in 34 career games.
