Buff & Blue triumphed in 800 free relay
GENEVA, Ohio - GW men's swimming and diving secured its first gold medal of the Atlantic 10 Championships on Wednesday evening at the SPIRE Institute with Marek Osina, Josh Legge, Dylan Arzoni and Emils Pone combining to win the 800 free relay.
The Buff and Blue group touched in 6:31.13 to win by more than seven seconds in the final race of the first of four days of competition.
In his A-10 Championship debut, Osina, a transfer from East Carolina, set the tone with a strong opening split of 1:37.79 to pave the way for a wire-to-wire victory. Pone's sizzling closing split of 1:35.53 was best in the field.
After being disqualified in the opening 200 medley relay, GW sits at the bottom of the team standings with 40 points. Davidson (68 points), George Mason (64) and St. Bonaventure (62) are at the top in the early going.
